Shoppers Hit The Keyboard This Holiday Season

Wondering where the customers are as the holiday shopping season opens? The New York Times reports this morning that, according to VisaUSA, holiday shoppers spent 26% more in online shopping over the weekend, versus the same period in 2004.

Cyber Monday Makes Online Businesses Happy

Also quoted in the article were executives from other leading online retailers, noting that internet sales this past Monday were the highest of the year. Meanwhile, bricks and mortar mall traffic over the same weekend rose an anemic 0.4% versus last year. These numbers have the online retailers rubbing their hands with glee, while their mall counterparts are wringing theirs.

Time For Small Business Owners To Improve Their Internet Marketing

The upshot from these numbers is clear. More and more customers are shopping online, for virtually every kind of product and service. Done correctly, a small business website can be a boon to your business. Whether your market area is local, calling for local internet marketing, or national, requiring a broader campaign, there can be little doubt that internet marketing should become a permanent fixture in the markeing plans of every business with an online presence.
