New Mike Grehan Interview And More

An Informative Interview With Mike Grehan

Mike Grehan, if you don't know of him, is one of the most informative and creative voices in the internet marketing/search engine optimization space. He goes his own way, and speaks a lot of good sense. Here is an interview with Aaron Pratt of seobuzzbox.com. It has a lot of great nuggets of information about SEO and SEM. I especially refer you to the stuff on web communities, and how even a small website can do well if it focuses on creating a real buzz in its community.

The Latest Thinking About Linking

An excellent post recently at the Search Engine Round Table about the current status of linking, reciprocal linking, and so forth. A good thread, with lots of good ideas, especially in light of Google's recent algorithm change, nicknamed Jagger, which apppeared to devalue both reciprocal links and paid text links.

Google's "Click To Call" Service Coming Soon?

There has been lots of talk recently that Google would begin offering "click to call" in its search results in some format. This would allow searchers to speak directly to advertisers -- a potential boon for local advertisers, even those who do not have a website. A story in News.com confirms that Google is working with VoIP, Inc. to test the system.

FTD Fires Their Head Of Marketing For Missing Out On Online Christmas Sales

A post in one of my favorite blogs, Marketing Pilgrim, that the head of marketing for FTD is looking for a new job, after failing to include online marketing in FTD's Christmas sales strategy. FTD's Christmas, 2005 sales were below expectations, and the company decided their head of marketing should have been more on-the-ball when it came to online. He's not the only one. I know of quite a few companies, especially in the local space, who are missing out on real money by ignoring the online sphere entirely.
