Internet Marketing Services Explained

What We Do

The client engagement begins with an in-depth review of the client’s web-based business, including a discussion of any offline components. We will zero in on the products sold or services provided, and the customer base. After this discussion (by phone is fine) we progress through the following stages:

  • Site overview. We will review all aspects of your site as it pertains to search engine optimization (SEO). This includes review of the site structure (are all pages being crawled and indexed by the search engines?), the navigation (is it optimized for customers to find and purchase product?), page structure (is the html, including headers, correctly formatted?). If changes are needed, recommendations will be made.

  • Keywords and on-page content review. Based on the initial discussion, a lengthy keyword and key phrase list will be developed. Based on the keywords, and within the context of the current site content, suggestions for on-page revisions will be made, new pages may be suggested, and meta tags, including titles and descriptions, will be incorporated. Internal linking to maximize the search engine ranking potential of top pages will be adjusted, to make sure the internal links on the site incorporate the newly-developed keyword plan. We will also want to add to the site a full range of “bookmarking” and “tagging” tools so users can easily find the site again.

  • Monthly Internet Marketing. The process described above is the base from which we proceed. With the website “tuned-up” for SEO, we devote the majority of our time each month to moving the site up the rankings for as many keywords as possible. The more keywords, the more “doors” to the site. Our goal is to open every one of them. The main focus of monthly work is building one-way links to the website. This is the “currency” of Search Engine Optimization – getting links to your site. The trick is to get the right links, and avoid the bad ones. Unfortunately, link building is neither quick nor easy. The useful links (the ones that help you in the rankings) come from relevant sites that the search engines trust. Making the connections with these sites is what we do, month in and month out.

In a typical month, we might work on any of the following components:

  • Link building

  • Search ranking analysis

  • Website traffic analysis (Analytics)

  • Content Publicity

  • Content development

  • Article Writing

  • Directory submissions

  • Competitive analysis

  • Pay-per-Click (Adwords) Management

The big time consumer, each month, is the Link Building component. This may involve scouring the internet, using a variety of methods, to locate and evaluate good sites to seek links from. Then the approach must be made to a chosen site, and, hopefully, a link obtained. There may also be some room for developing a reciprocal links program, although this is less important than it used to be. At other times, link building may involve writing an online article, distributed as a press release or an article, that may be published on the web and include a link back to your site. Additionally, we may want to look at some of the opportunities in the newer technologies, including business-oriented community sites (networking) to maximize exposure in those spaces. We will also look at “core” link opportunities, from such diverse places as chambers of commerce, trade associations, regional websites, vertical industry websites, and so on, to take advantage of every possible link opportunity.

Whatever the method employed (and it varies from month to month, depending on the situation), link building is the core component. In reality, all other aspects of Search Engine Optimization support this tactic. Fortunately, good SEO complements good customer conversion. Over time, improving the content of the site helps users (and conversions). Good content also attracts links from the best sites, so it is all part of the same cycle.

How Long Does It Take For Internet Marketing To Work?

Usually, it takes from 2 to 3 months for results to start showing up in the form of improved rankings and increased traffic. We will establish a baseline at the start, establishing where your site currently ranks for your top keywords in the search engines, and how much daily traffic your website receives. As time goes by, we will use these baselines as benchmarks to measure your improvements.
